Stuart Fuller to be succeeded by Tim Hughes as ASF Chairman
23 April 2012

The Australian Securitisation Forum (ASF) is delighted to confirm – with immediate effect – that Tim Hughes, Treasurer of Suncorp, has been appointed by fellow board members on the ASF National Committee as the organisation’s new chairman.

Gratitude

Stuart Fuller, having led the ASF since February 2009 and having been on the board for more than one decade, resigned his position both as chairman and National Committee member in the wake of his move to Hong Kong to lead newly merged law firm, King & Wood Mallesons. The National Committee emphatically thanked Mr Fuller for his contribution to the ASF and to his unwavering personal commitment to the organisation during his tenure as chairman. In particular, his strategic and technical leadership in relation to covered bonds will be long-remembered.

New challenges

Tim Hughes, said, “It’s an honour to follow in the footsteps of Stuart and other securitisation industry greats. I am humbled by the confidence expressed in me by the ASF National Committee. We have a number of challenges facing our industry but with a dedicated committee, strong and diverse membership base, we are confident in meeting these. My chairmanship will seek to build on successes in the disclosure and reporting space; prudential regulation reform; promoting and building our industry reputation in domestic and overseas markets; and ensure that the industry can be supported so as to become self-sustainable in the medium- to long-term. We will also be intimately involved in solutions that deliver a robust domestic fixed income market.”

Global ABS 2012 - Brussels - ASF Member Prices
28 February 2012

The ASF has secured the same deal as last year - a limited number of tickets for 2012 Global ABS at a much reduced rate for ASF members, being AUD1,500 rather than the €2,250 - €3,600. If you wish to avail yourself of these tickets, please contact Alison Rhall. They are on a strictly first-come-first served basis and initially limited to two per ASF member.

IOSCO consults on Principles for Ongoing Disclosure for Asset Backed Securities
21 February 2012

ABS Ongoing Disclosure Principles from IOSCO contains principles "designed to provide guidance to securities regulators who are developing or reviewing their regulatory regimes for ongoing disclosure for asset-backed securities (ABS)" but ASF predicts that these principles will also be useful for the ASF as it goes about maintaining its existing RMBS and ABS disclosure and reporting best-practice standards.
